Our Lerner and Rowe outreach team braved the triple digit temperatures to put on a festive Back to School Fair – Backpack Giveaway in North Las Vegas. Over 2,500 people showed up to enjoy a few hours at Cheyenne Sports Complex, where 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies were handed out.
We wish to give a shout out to our compassionate community partners who made hard work fun. The youth group at Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain came out in force manning one of the two bouncy houses, carnival games, and made snow cones and popcorn for all of our guests.
We also wish to thank our friends at Metro’s Office of Community Engagement, North Las Vegas Police Department, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, North Pecos Baptist, and Abundant Peace UCC for helping us in serving our neighbors and their children.
“I was touched to see so many people show up to receive a free backpack and I’m grateful for the many community partners who helped us make the event an incredible success,” shared Glen Lerner.
