#LovePup It’s Hip to Chip Sponsors

Hip to Chip 2019 SponsorLerner and Rowe Gives Back is very excited to be part of the one year anniversary of the #LovePup It’s Hip to Chip microchipping initiative. This is #LovePup’s biggest program yet, and we’re so pleased to be a part of it for another year.

One Year Anniversary Details

Join us in celebrating the success of the It’s Hip to Chip program and meet some of the microchipped dogs that have been adopted out to furever homes over the past year.

Event highlights include dog food and treats handed out by Safeway/Albertsons for the four-legged guests, tasty offerings from food trucks for the two-legged guests, and educational information explaining the importance of microchipping. AZ Pet Vet will also be microchipping all dogs that come without microchips.

Details to save:

DATE: Saturday, May 11, 2019
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to noon
LOCATION: Maricopa County Animal Care and Control West (2500 S. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85009)

Why It’s Hip to Chip

The It’s Hip to Chip Program aims to ensure that all dogs adopted from either of the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Animal Shelters locations receive a microchip upon their adoption. Microchips make it easier for owners to find their lost pets.

By storing the owner’s contact information in a database, a microchip takes the guesswork out of trying to find a runaway pup. And, since the microchip is implanted under the dog’s skin, there’s no need to worry about losing the device like a collar or tag.

The People Who Love Pups

Radio host Johnjay Van Es and his family have been fostering stray dogs for adoption in their home for years. The entire family shares a passion for helping animals and preparing them for their future forever home. Since the creation of #LovePup, the family has rescued, fostered, and found homes for over 500 dogs. Van Es uses the power of social media to screen interested owners and match the dogs with the perfect home.

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back would like to encourage you to adopt your next family friend instead of buying. Check out the #LovePup Foundation for an array of furry companions waiting for their forever home.

More About the Arizona Humane Society

For over 60 years, the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) has operated under the strict philosophy that every pet deserves the chance to have a good life. From their humble beginnings as a small shelter run by volunteers, AHS has become Arizona’s largest entity for animal protection and welfare, as well as the designated responder for animal rescue during times of natural disasters.

AHS’ commitment to the welfare of animals has led them to become a leader in education, first-of-their-kind programs, and communication techniques within the animal welfare community.

Everyday, the Arizona Humane Society sees cases of neglect, abandonment, and abuse that motivate their continued efforts to end animal suffering, homelessness, and needless euthanasia. As a result, AHS has established an Ethical No-Kill Philosophy.

Pets rescued by AHS are never euthanized to due to their time at the shelter or space concerns. According to the Arizona Humane Society, “by implementing this visionary Ethical No-Kill Philosophy, we’ve achieved what once seemed impossible and saved an additional 60,000 lives in the last four years.”

Our team at Lerner and Rowe Gives Back has consistently demonstrated our deep love for the welfare and just treatment of pets. Playground Build at the Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped (ARCH) located at 1550 W Colter St, Phoenix, AZ 85015. Fiesta Bowl Charities has partnered with KaBOOM! throughout the 2017-18 grant cycle to construct two brand new playgrounds for communities in the state of Arizona. These playgrounds are built from the ground up by the hands of hard-working volunteers and community partners, and provide a source of exercise and entertainment for more than 4,000 children. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is proud to announce our sponsorship of, and participation in, such a generous effort.

More About the Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped

ARCH was established in 1975 through the combined efforts of community leaders and various Valley charities (Muscular Dystrophy Association, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Easter Seals, United Cerebral Palsy, Arthritis Foundation, and the Association for Retarded Citizens) to fill avoid within the community. Before the creation of ARCH, there were not any local agencies that offered a place for people with disabilities to socialize or participate in therapeutic recreation and rehabilitation programs.

According to their mission statement, “People with disabilities should be given opportunities to learn about basic living skills, the functions of self-care, medical care, parenting skills, sex education, child care, home safety, money management, home management, consumer education, community resources and many more.” For over three decades, ARCH has established itself as the preeminent resource for  adults and children with disabilities to find recreation and socialization programs and services throughout the Phoenix metro area.

Christmas is truly a magical time, sometimes full of surprises. The Johnjay and Rich Christmas Wish has brought wonderful surprises to families in extreme need for over fifteen years. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is excited to announce our sponsorship of such a marvelous event.

How Do I Nominate a Family in Need?

The Johnjay and Rich Christmas Wish encourages others in the community to share the joy of the season by helping families struggling to make ends meet. Do you know a family who could benefit from a gift like this? The process is simple.

Listen to the Johnjay and Rich morning show. If you know a family in need, send a letter explaining their situation. You can use email, fax, or snail mail. A committee spends time on all the nominations. Be sure the family you nominate meets the criteria listed  at the bottom of this page.

What Happens If My Nomination is Selected?

If your nomination is selected, you will be involved in the radio segment. You will read your nominations’ story live on air for your nominated family to hear; all as a big surprise! Then, Johnjay and Rich Christmas Wish Elves will deliver their gifts! In the past, the Elves have delivered:

  • Household bill payments
  • New clothes
  • Toys for the kids
  • Groceries
  • Bedding and mattresses
  • Auto and home repairs
  • And more!
