In Maricopa County, many school children have to face each day without the guarantee of a nourishing, wholesome breakfast in the morning. We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s the fuel your body uses to power your body and mind. This is why it is of the utmost important that children are properly fed before beginning their school day. Valley of the Sun United Way seeks to end this concern for low-income families by providing nutritious breakfast to 130 schools in our county.
Lerner and Rowe Gives Back are proud to support their efforts by being a $5k Supporting Sponsor of the We Are UNITED- Women United Luncheon. This signature event seeks to raise funds to put towards hunger-ending efforts, such as Breakfast in the Classroom and WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks, in Maricopa County. The Luncheon takes place on Friday, May 18th, at Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. The Luncheon will take place from 11:30am to 1:30pm, with a VIP reception preceding the event at 10:30am.
Lerner and Rowe Gives Back would like to encourage you to donate your time and effort, along with financial donations if you can, in order to create positive changes in our local community.
As a special treat this year, the event’s keynote speaker is none other than multi-faced artist and entertainer Vanessa Williams. She is known worldwide for her musical talents and television and movie appearances, with a career that has spanned decades. She is one of the most respected figures in the entertainment industry. In 2007, Vanessa Williams was honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Women United is more than excited to have her present as the keynote speaker for the VIP Reception.

Lerner and Rowe proudly announces their sponsorship of the 4th Annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament in conjunction with the Ronald McDonald House. The tournament has grown to two courses at the Grayhawk Golf Club on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. The event starts with registration at 7:00 a.m. with a lunch, raffle drawing and awards ceremony to follow.
4th Annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament
The 4th Annual Pro-Am Golf Tournament gives participants the opportunity to interact and play with champions, tour and local pros. Unlike a normal competition, usually decided by the low net score or via match play, pro-am golf tournaments generally are best ball, low net score or a scramble format. Lerner and Rowe invites you to join them at the Grayhawk Golf Club. Tournament proceeds help with the costs for families staying at the Valley’s three houses, two located in central Phoenix and one in Mesa.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix helps children and their families by providing a ‘home away from home’ for those travelling to the city to receive treatment for illnesses, both serious and life-threatening. Families often stay for extended periods, from days up to months at a time. This non-profit organization never turns away a family. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is very excited to announce we have become the exclusive annual partner of #LovePup and their It’s Hip to Chip Program. This is #LovePup’s biggest program yet, and we’re so pleased to be a part of it.
The It’s Hip to Chip Program aims to ensure that all dogs adopted from either of the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Animal Shelters locations receive a microchip upon their adoption. Microchips make it easier for owners to find their lost pets. By storing the owner’s contact information in a database, a microchip takes the guesswork out of trying to find a runaway pup. And, since the microchip is implanted under the dog’s skin, there’s no need to worry about losing the device like a collar or tag.
Radio host Johnjay Van Es and his family have been fostering stray dogs for adoption in their home for years. The entire family shares a passion for helping animals and preparing them for their future forever home. Since the creation of #LovePup, the family has rescued, fostered, and found homes for over 500 dogs. Van Es uses the power of social media to screen interested owners and match the dogs with the perfect home.
“We are excited to partner with #LovePup. We know the love and happiness a four-legged family member brings is one of a kind. I have a family of avid dog-lovers, myself; we have three furry friends of our own. Every dog deserves to find a good home filled with love. And, microchips help make sure that they’re never separated from their new home,” says attorney Kevin Rowe.
Phoenix, AZ – Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is excited to announce our third sponsorship of the annual “i have a Voice” International Gala presented by Gigi’s Playhouse. This event will take place on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Lusso Fine Motors in Scottsdale, Arizona. The gala is Gigi’s Playhouse’s most important fundraiser of the year, as it plays an important role in spreading the message of the organization all over the globe.
This year’s event will be hosted by Mario Lopez and feature an appearance by the National Founder of Gigi’s Playhouse, Nancy Gianni. DJ P-Body will provide the musical entertainment for the event while some of the adults and children of the Playhouse will have the chance to inspire the audience with tales of their hardships and triumphs. Gala attendees can also look forward to a live auction, sit-down dinner, raffle contest, and other activities. The “i have a Voice” International Gala will serve as an opportunity to applaud these incredible individuals and continue to change the way people perceive those with Down syndrome.
Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal disability in the country, yet it severely lacks funding and helpful programs that aim to improve the future of those under the diagnosis. That’s where Nancy Gianni saw an opportunity. With over 35 locations across the US and Mexico, Gigi’s Playhouse has established the world’s only network of distinct Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. Gigi’s gives children and adults diagnosed with Down syndrome a support system and selection of programs aimed at increasing their educational and career success. These programs help participants build the confidence and skills they need in order to become leaders in their communities. The programs offered by Gigi’s Playhouse are available to all age groups and are always free of charge. Their mission is to spread the message of Global Acceptance for everyone and “to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community.”
Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is more than happy to support this cause for the third time. We envision a future where all individuals are embraced as equals regardless of their number of chromosomes.
